Messaging System

Messaging System Video



You have the ability to send messages to all or a select group of staff, students and parents using the message system. Located on the Dashboard, you will notice a recent message area. If there are any unread messages, you can click on the hyperlink to jump to the recent messages in your inbox.



To access the Message page, click the Messages link below the Account tab.


 
You will see a list of all incoming messages in your Inbox.



You have the option to select, All, Invert, or deselect all messages by clicking None.



To delete a message select it and click the delete selected button.


 
To mark a message as read, click the Mark Selected As Read button.



If you have a lot of messages in for inbox, you can cycle through pages by using the first and last buttons. The blue number indicates what page you are currently viewing.



To filter your messages for a certain time frame, sender or recipient, click the Filter button.



Clicking on a message allows you to view its contents. To reply to a received message click the reply button.



If you would like to keep a message unread click the Mark as Unread button.



To delete a read message click Delete.


 
View Sent Messages
To access your sent messages, click the Sent Messages button.


 
Compose a Message
To create a new message, click the Compose button.



You have the option to send messages to select students, staff, parents and groups. If you renamed or grouped any classes you will find them in the Add Group drop down.  


 
The Staff, Parents and Students sections allow you to locate and select individuals. Typing in 2 letters gives you a list of users to choose from. Only registered users will appear in the list.



If you would like to send a message to a student’s patents you can search for a student and click the Add Parents button.



To add a student’s teachers click the Add Teachers



If you would like to send a message to a student’s Parents or Teachers and would not like the student to receive the message uncheck Send to students.



To allow recipients to reply to composed messages check the Allow recipients to respond directly to my email address checkbox. Replies to messages will be sent directly to the user’s primary email address set during registration and will not be viewable in Skedula or Pupil Path. Once you have chosen to allow recipients to respond directly to your email address, this will be the default for all sent messages. If you would like sent and received replied messages to remain in Skedula uncheck the box.

 
 
You can also translate messages to parents. The messages will be translated to match the language of the student’s home language survey. Parents will see the message in their home language and English.


To send your composed message click the Send button.

 
Send a Mass Message
To send messages to the entire school or a specific population, click the Mass Messages button. Mass Message is only available to user with proper permissions.



You have five mass population options located in the drop down.


 
You also have the option to allow a response and translate mass messages.



To send the message click the send button.
